We have been working really hard this week to finish our calendar art.
Our artwork is pictures of ladybirds because they are one of the first signs of Spring.
We sponged on our ladybird shapes, used our fingers to make the spots (this was the fun part!) and dyed the background.
We read some stories about ladybirds too. We found out that they have 6 legs, 2 eyes and 3 parts to their body -head, thorax and abdomen.
We also know why they are brightly coloured....do you?

Friendly Frogs
This week our sound focus is the 'fr' sound. We made friendly frogs to help us remember this sound and we now we know lots of other 'fr' words...

Making Predictions about Shadows
We had to make predictions about what was going to make a shadow. We used foil, cardboard, paper, clear plastic lid, plastic bag and wax paper. Next we tested our predictions.
We discovered...
* not all things make shadows (transparent objects don't make shadows because the light can get through them easily)
* some shadows are darker than others (translucent things can make lighter shadows because some light can get through them)
* if something is opaque it does not let light shine through it
We had a great morning working
co operatively, sharing the torches and thinking like scientists!
